Coral Guardian joins the IDEAS ecosystem
At Coral Guardian, a French NGO (loi 1901) dedicated to conserving and restoring coral reefs alongside local communities, we have spent the past few years pursuing a demanding certification process. And we’ve achieved it! We are proud to announce that Coral Guardian is now IDEAS-certified.

What is IDEAS?
The IDEAS Institute’s process is designed to strengthen the governance, management and transparency of non-profit organisations, while helping them ensuring the continuous improvement of their practices. This framework commits Coral Guardian to an ongoing dynamic of improvement, helping us optimise our work and support our development.
The IDEAS Label is the mark of a high-quality societal commitment. It demonstrates to our partners and stakeholders that our organisation follows rigorous standards of management, effectiveness and governance.
The IDEAS Label was created in 2010 by the Compagnie Nationale des Commissaires aux Comptes, the Conseil SupĂ©rieur de l’Ordre des Experts-Comptables and the Caisse des DĂ©pĂ´ts (France’s national auditing body, professional body of chartered accountants, and public financial institution). Reserved for non-profit organisations, it is awarded on the basis of the requirements set out in the “IDEAS Guide to Good Practice”, following a period of support provided by the Institute. External checks are carried out by independent professionals (chartered accountants / statutory auditors) and cover 90 good practices across three main areas: Governance, Finance, and Steering & Evaluation.
Joining this ecosystem also means becoming part of a community: peer-to-peer exchange, sharing good practice, and building new partnerships. All of these are valuable connections for our organisation.
Why this Label?
For Coral Guardian, committing to IDEAS certification was a major step in our development. It meets an essential need for structure and transparency as our non-profit grows and its restoration programmes expand. The goal: to consolidate our internal processes and strengthen our credibility, so that we can keep working effectively, both in the field and within our partnerships.
“The whole Coral Guardian team is delighted and proud to join the IDEAS ecosystem. The label is recognition of the work our association has begun in order to professionalise and strengthen its practices, towards healthy, transparent and impactful governance. More than the label itself, it is the continuous, detailed and genuine support of the IDEAS advisers that has enabled so many advances in our practices and our organisation. We sincerely thank them, along with the entire IDEAS team, for their commitment and their trust.”
— Neyda Radouane, Director of Coral Guardian
Throughout the process, IDEAS supported Coral Guardian on several fronts: structuring our governance, consolidating our financial and decision-making processes, project steering, and improving transparency towards our ecosystem. All of these advances have made us more effective, both strategically and operationally.
The process also highlighted a number of strengths: a clear mission and disinterested management, clear governance, good human-resources management practices, respect for our donors and partners, as well as reliable steering tools and sound financial and accounting information.
The IDEAS process marks an important milestone for our association, strengthening its credibility and organisational effectiveness. In adopting it, we reaffirm our commitment to continuous improvement, in service of our mission: to restore coral reefs and protect marine biodiversity, hand in hand with local communities. A standard we intend to uphold as we take on the challenges ahead.
