Sustainable and responsible scuba diving

The eco-responsibility of scuba diving centers

Tourism is one of the most important industries on the planet. Coral reefs alone are estimated to contribute $9.6 billion to the tourism and recreational sector.

Tourism is also the industry that is most dependent on the state of the environment. This is especially true for scuba diving centers. Marine ecosystems are fragile and today they are threatened, so it is important for scuba diving centers to position themselves as a pioneering actor in promoting eco-responsible tourism in order to secure their development and preserve the resources on which they depend.

How to dive responsibly?

Rules of good conduct are to be adopted when we are lucky enough to enter the world of marine ecosystems:

  • Do not touch or walk on corals, or any other marine species, whether animal or plant.
  • Favour responsible anti-UV clothing or sunscreens that are more respectful of the environment.
  • Do not take anything from the ocean.
  • Dispose of your waste in the areas provided for this purpose.
  • Privilege transport with a low carbon footprint.
  • Respect the surroundings and local communities.
